Schooloscope is an honest, independent, straightforward guide to how your local schools are getting on.
We take official Government-backed information about state schools in England and try to tease out something interesting from the dry tables of statistics.
Our aim is to show what each school feels like. Are the kids happy there? Is the teaching good? If you were thinking of sending your child to this school, what would the parents there tell you about it?
We’ve developed a system that looks through the information in official documents (like Ofsted reports and DCSF Performance Tables) and is able to draw certain conclusions – then we spell those out clearly and honestly.
Every school here has its own personality. A school isn’t just league tables, it’s a community of people. We’re trying to reflect that.
So the schools on Schooloscope literally speak for themselves. Click on one to see what it has to say for itself.
You can see at a glance whether a school is generally happy or not, whether it is large or small, or getting good or bad exam results.
Schooloscope gives you the overview that Government statistics can’t. We hope you’ll find it useful.
The best way to discover how Schooloscope works is to try it. Type the name of a school near you, or the school you went to, into the search box. We’ll guide you through the site as you go. If you have any comments or questions, we’d love to hear them: please just ask.
